November 2007 President's "For The Good" Notes
1. For Large Event Dispatch, need to have:
1. Where are we to go?
2. Who are we to report to?
3. What 800 frequency are we to use?
2. It's the state Law: if you have your wipers on, you must have
your headlights on.
3. Ask your fire chief if he would let you have one of the
company's work nights to let you teach the fire fighters as to
what the fire Police do. Have a dialog with them as to how you
all can work together.
4. Our Jan. 6, 2008 meeting will be at Po-Mar-Lin in Unionville.
The 2008 meetings will be held there. Any one who wishes to help
arrange a picnic, banquet or other function to honor our Fire
Police during the year, please contact me? Joel Gramling, h.
610-363-1210, c. 610-476-6109.
5. Please let me know whom you would like to see honored as the
Fire Police Officer for 2007. Send in your suggestions to me at
jgramling@verizon.net
6. At the next meeting, Jan. 6. Please arrive up to an hour earlier
than 2 PM. We will take membership renewals, and you will
receive your 2008 Chester County card with your completed form
and check or cash. We will have 3 or 4 alphabetical lines to
speed the process.
7. BEEF AND BEER CHARITY BENEFIT FOR FIRE POLICEMAN JOHN SCIANDRA,
NOV. 10, THORNDALE FIRE COMPANY, 8:00-12:00 PM. $15 per person.
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS EVENT FOR OUR OWN "*Little John*" to help
after his heart attack.
8. At the Nov. Fire Chief's meeting, they were given information on
surplus equipment available from the state. A contact name was
Scott Pepperman, 717-787-6159 Ext. 3205, Web site
www.dgs.state.pa.us. Some
equipment might be useful for the fire police.
9. Chester County Emergency Services is forming an All Hazards
Technical Assistance Program. It is in the developmental stage.
It involves all disciplines of the fire service including fire,
EMS, police, fire police, county and township officials,
communications and credentialing. More on this later.
10. Make sure you are on the Fire Police Email list. Email Eileen
Amatrudo at giraffa37@comcast.net
11. If you are getting new vests, there are new standards for vests.
Class 3, level 2 striping I believe is the highest at this time.
12. At the last meeting, our speaker and state instructor Scott
Piersol reminded us about the use of flags for daytime traffic
control. Great reminder for our safety and visibility.
13. I will get updated and clarification of the PA State Fire Police
Association death benefits insurance for the next meeting. That
information will be given to our web site shortly. It may have a
bearing on whether you wish to participate or not.
